Mission and Vision of the HBCU Legacy Scholarship and Mentoring Foundation
Founded on the wings of social worker, Arthur Whitmore and educator, Dr. Evonne Whitmore, the HBCU Legacy Foundation is centered on bridging the gap between educational knowledge and social responsibility. Attributed to our Angels’ educational foundation at Norfolk State University, the Foundation provides access to funding and mentoring to high achieving undergraduate students attending one of our nation’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU).
The Foundation sees higher education as a formative experience of discovery and development aimed at building the enthusiasm to be an agent for social change. To thrive, undergraduate students need both financial support and proficient guidance. We envision a community that encourages students to build connections, pursue opportunities and achieve academic success without financial barriers. In this community, the gap between undergraduate education and postgraduate fulfillment is bridged.
